Basketball FAQ

1) How many players will be on each team?  In order to maximize playing time and player development, teams will have up to 8 players per team.

2) How are teams selected?  Once registration is closed, tryouts will occur. Each player will make a team. Tryouts are used to create competitive teams within our league.  Following tryouts, head coaches will meet to draft players for their team.  Parents will be notified following the draft regarding their coach, practice time and any additional team information.

3) Is it equal playing time? Each player is guaranteed to play at least half of the game.

4) How many games will be played in the season? 10 games + playoffs.

5) What if I want to have a particular friend on my time? In order to make this league as competitive and exciting as possible, we will be using a draft process to create teams. You will be able to request one “friendship” player during registration. We will do our best to accommodate requests.

6) When and where are practices? Monday or Wednesday evening at Grand Oaks High School or another local gym.

7) How many practices will there be per week? One mandatory practice per week.  Coaches may choose to have an option second practice per week, scheduled on their own.

8) When and where are games?  Grand Oaks High School

9) How many games will there be per week? Two games each Saturday during the regular season.  Playoff schedule will vary.

10) What if I want to coach?  Our league is run by volunteers! If you would like to coach please indicate that on your child’s registration.  Once registration closes and we have a final count of players and volunteers you will be notified by the league regarding your coaching status.

11) Why are your fees higher than others in the area? We are looking to create a community league right in our own neighborhood. That being said, rental prices in the 99 corridor are higher than other areas. To be able to use the fantastic facilities that surround us we will need to have higher rates to pay for usage for practices and games.

12) Why do we need to do a fundraiser?  The fundraiser is optional to help offset the registration fee.  If you complete the guessing game fundraiser your total out of pocket is $175 + the $100 you raised from the fundraiser.  If you choose to not participate in the fundraiser, you will pay the buyout fee of $100, which will bring your total out of pocket registration payment to $275.
