7v7 and Flag FOOTBALL FAQ

Welcome to our information page.  Our goal is to provide structure for the off season and develop skills for these players while continuing to keep the relationships intact and familiarity amongst the players.  Flag football is definitely beginner football and is designed for the younger kids.  Once you hit 4th grade, you should be stepping up into a faster paced and better skillset challenge of 7v7 football.

We try to create an environment that maximizes both competitiveness and flexibility.  We have a lot of kids that play other sports in the spring, so we want to build rosters a little bigger so when kids need to miss games for whatever reason, it's not detrimental to the team.  Flexibility, affordability, and competitiveness are what we are focused on.

Due to availability in the area, we are going to play our 2nd and 3rd graders at Undefeated together in flag, 4th graders together at Farm League 7v7, and 5th and 6th graders at SpeedCampUSA.

1) How many players will be on each team?  We're going to have 10 on each flag team and 12-14 on each 7v7 team.

2) How are teams selected?  We want to have a balance of competitiveness along with opportunity.  We're going to structure the teams like middle school and have an A/B/C type of build to allow the teams to compete in tournaments when they want to.  There will be tryouts announced.

3) How many games will be played in the season? 6-8 games + playoffs.  There are other tournaments that the most competitive teams will more than likely want to compete in after the regular season.

4) When and where are practices? Each team will be led by a head coach that will determine this.  It'll be in the Grand Oaks area.

5) When and where are games? Flag games at York on Saturday mornings. 7v7 games will be on Friday nights and some weekends at Gullo Park and Farm League. There are additional tournaments though that are spread out across Houston. Those are optional.

6) Where can I find the rules for this league? We will track these down and provide them to the parents as soon as we know who has registered.

7) What if I want to coach? Our league is run by volunteers! If you would like to coach please indicate that on your child’s registration. Once registration closes and we have a final count of players and volunteers you will be notified by the league regarding your coaching status.

8) What equipment do I need? You'll need a black soft-shell helmet and mouthpiece.  Please buy black so it maximizes uniformity on the field as they play in tournaments together.

9) Are we able to play other sports during the season? Absolutely!  Football will need to be the focus to ensure more playing time, but we have a ton of kids that play baseball during the season.

10) Where do I sign up for this league?  Flag football will be directly through the UD website.  Here is that link...  7v7 for 4th-6th graders will be on our registration page.
